PNG White Teat Sea Cucumber

1. Fully submerge the dried sea cucumber in a big pot of water.
2. Soak the sea cucumber for 1 - 2 nights and change the water at least once a day. When sea cucumber is soft enough, change the water in the pot and boil the sea cucumber.
3. Once the water starts to boil, off the fire and cover the pot with a lid. Leave the sea cucumber in the pot and change the water at night once the water has been cooled.
4. Remove any innards with a spoon and wash the interior clean before cooking. Duration of soaking depends on the thickness and hardness of the dried sea cucumber.

Recommendation: Sea cucumber itself usually does not have any flavor or taste. Instead, it readily absorbs the taste and smell of the broth and ingredients it is cooked with. Sea cucumber is usually cooked or braised with vegetables, meat or other seafood.

Dried sea cucumber can be kept outside or inside, in a cool and dry place. Soaked sea cucumber should be kept in the freezer compartment. Before cooking, let the frozen sea cucumber defrost naturally.
